Pictures and Descriptions

We love our house. For two decades it has been our home, and you can ask anyone in the family – there’s no better place on earth. We’re proud and excited to show you around!

Let’s start from the lake side! The beautiful lakefront includes a small deck with sun chairs as well as a picnic table shaded by an umbrella. A small boathouse houses a luxurious sauna and a beautiful outdoor shower overlooking the lake. Deer Lake is one of the cleanest in the state, and is excellent for all water sports and fishing. Our wood dock ends in a platform perfect for sunbathing or sunset watching, and the water is just right at the end – 3.5′ deep with a clean sand bottom. We provide water sports equipment including two kayaks and a paddleboard!

A winding path up from the lake passes by our firepit – perfect for campfires, sing-a-longs and s’mores – and a small lower deck with a picnic table on its way up to the main house.

At the top of the hill you will find our house – a 1920s log cabin our family has owned for twenty years, and the very first thing we did was build this huge deck. Over two decades we have never, not once, grown tired of the view. You can’t find a better place for sunrises, morning coffee, long lunches, warm evening dinners, or sunsets than our huge deck looking over what Travel and Leisure named one of America’s Top 10 Most Beautiful Lakes. You might lose hours just sitting in a deck chair watching the Lake of Changing Colors.  Two large picnic tables with an umbrella seat up to 15 comfortably, and there’s a grill provided for your use.

Just across the path from the deck, the screen house is a great place to hide and read a book, and it also includes a full-sized felt-topped poker table, as well as a dart board!

Behind the house, two large yards are great for sports. We have all the equipment for bocce, ping pong, volleyball and croquet (yoga teacher not included!)

Now come inside and look around the house itself!

From the porch you enter our enormous kitchen. The kitchen features a five burner gas stove, two ovens, cabinets stocked with spices, herbs and other basics, cooking equipment, two dishwashers and two sinks – perfect for large family dinners. The large all-pine table seats fifteen comfortably. Next to the basement stairs two rocking chairs make a peaceful place to sit and watch someone else do the cooking tonight.

The enormous pine-log livingroom dates from the 1920s when this was one of the earliest houses on Deer Lake. This huge room is bright, sunny and airy. You can enter from the kitchen, or directly from the porch. It features three distinct areas – cozy couches around a fireplace for roaring fires on cold nights, a chess table in the corner, and an area around our antique piano (with a bench full of classic sheet music!) that’s perfect for sing-a-longs or games. Our card table stands just next to a fully stocked game cabinet. A small utility room leading off the living room houses our washer and drier.
